31 Days in December #9: A perfect figurine

She caught my eye in Germany a decade ago, a mere 3" tall - counting the poppy. Her colors cheered me over the years. Now she, along with other little memories, has been posted on Craigslist.

Volkskunst - folk art
"Thank you, God, for pretty little things that remind of your creativity - and ours." Does she make you smile, too?

Such little "pretties" are not necessary to life, like friends or bread and water. Things that please us can nourish our hearts. They just can't be our focus. Shedding these small pleasures actually gladdens my heart. I'm thankful to have had the privilege of their company for a while.

What makes you happy, just to see it come into view?

*You shall worship the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water. Exodus 23:25 ESV

*Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." Matthew 6:31-32 ESV

Moravian Prayer: God who nourishes our soul, forgive us for craving that which can satisfy our appetites but which cannot sustain our whole beings. Thanks to you, O Bread of life. Amen.
